As I write my columns each week, I have no idea where Nick, Jason and the Winner’s Edge team will be going with their plays and Best Bets. It’s a surprise to me until I flip open the issue and surf through their columns and the NFL Analysis. Last week when I saw that Nick and I both lined up on a play backing the Buccaneers, my first thought was that’s great. My next thought was oh, oh, Nick’s probably not going to be as excited, based on my middle of the road season thus far, and the red hot season he’s been putting together. The “oh oh” sentiment won the day, as the Bucs play lost, giving Nick and I our one loss of the week each. Here’s to hoping we don’t line up again (for his sake).
On to this week’s column, off that 1-1 record last week, which brought my overall season record to that entirely mediocre 20-21 ATS mark you see posted at the top. Below I’ve highlighted a Total play from on the early Sunday game.
LA Rams at Philadelphia Eagles
Since their bye week the Rams have been scoring some points. They racked up 30 vs. the Vikings, 20 vs. the Eagles (in a 37-20 loss with that total at 49 points). LA also scored 42 vs. the Bills, and in their Wild Card game against the Vikings they put up 27. The Rams averaged 29.25 PPG in those four games. The Eagles looked anemic in their playoff win vs Green Bay and I expect a much better effort this time around. Following their bye week and against five playoff teams, Philadelphia scored a combined 147 points for an average of 29.4 PPG.
I made this total at 44.5 which is 4.5 lower than their previous total of 49.
Pick #1: LA Rams and Eagles over 43.5 points (paying the extra juice of -120 to get it down to 43.5)
